從一片甘蔗田開始，明道大學走過十八個年頭，在各領域中培育出不少優秀人才。學校22日以「文采飛揚，明道出發」為題，舉行18周年校慶系列活動，還在蠡澤湖畔舉辦草地音樂會，全校師生一起欣賞爵士樂。COSPLAY、園遊會各項活動從早一路到傍晚，整個校園浸染在歡樂的氣氛中。
汪大永校長表示，明道大學2001年創校，18周年就如同成年禮，是關鍵的一年，未來將在過去建立的基礎上持續往國際化及產學型大學邁進。培養學生具備多元發展的能力，成為肯承擔責任、懂感恩回饋，有為有守的世界公民。
當天舉辦了一系列活動，包含園遊會、「明道我最秀」才藝表演總決賽、愛心輕艇及大師揮毫等。傍晚的落羽松草地爵士音樂會上由知名爵士鋼琴音樂家黃盟傑老師與他的音樂夥伴，以及爵士女伶黃夏欣等人來校演出。師生隨性坐在草地上欣賞爵士音樂獨有的慵懶曲調，享受頂尖爵士音樂家們帶來的聽覺盛宴。此外，吉他社、流行音樂演藝學程學生們也一起參與，讓音樂會演出更加豐富。
在明道盃Cosplay創意大賽中，參賽者們發揮創意，化身成手遊或動漫裡的角色。經過一番激戰，冠軍由時尚系二年級的劉旻柔、何沂芯及黃鈺芹奪下。三人參考手遊陰陽師裡的白狼、八百比丘尼及狐妖角色，維妙維肖的裝扮獲得評審青睞。隊長劉旻柔說，學校舉辦這樣的比賽，可讓喜歡Cosplay的人有表演的舞台。
園遊會裡人氣最旺的則是境外學生的5個國際美食攤位，明道大學有近千名外國學生，來自馬來西亞、蒙古、印尼、泰國及史瓦帝尼的同學們，特別融合在地食材、分享故鄉的美味料理與文化，一同慶祝學校生日快樂。
