夏季賞蓮、吃蓮藕粉清涼又退火，嘉義縣水上鄉廣植蓮花，被喻為「嘉義縣蓮花的故鄉」，水上鄉農會更是推出「水上蓮香」蓮花相關產品，其中蓮藕粉因品質掛保證，是民眾自用或是當伴手禮的火紅商品，立委蔡易餘為水上蓮藕粉愛用者，6月10日與水上鄉農會總幹事林滄賢等力推盛夏蓮花聖品，為故鄉拚農業經濟。
水上鄉農會總幹事林滄賢表示，鄉內今年種植蓮花面積多達40公頃，農會為推廣蓮花產業，創立自有品牌「水上蓮香」，產品包括有精選白米、台梗71香米、蓮藕粉、沐浴用品、護膚乳液、香水蓮花茶等等，其中蓮藕粉炙手可熱。
林滄賢指出，農會所生產的蓮藕粉都是經過檢驗合格，更是自己租地契作，為確保蓮藕粉品質，自產自銷，由農會員工灌溉施肥，每年11月至12月採收蓮藕並製成粉狀，過程繁複，因此價格較市面上的蓮藕粉高，但頗受民眾喜愛，只要一上架不到3個月就賣光，預計11月即可透過農會網站、各農會販售處購買今年度的商品。
立委蔡易餘說，水上農會近幾年推廣蓮藕粉有成，每年銷售皆供不應求，自己就有在吃水上農會的蓮藕粉，因為對身體非常有益，而每當有好友來嘉義水上時，也會挑選農會的Q版蓮藕粉作為伴手禮，包裝輕巧又很「卡哇吚」。
水上鄉鄉長劉敬祥更親自示範沖泡蓮藕粉，證實水上鄉農會所自製的蓮藕粉是最純的，表示如果泡入水中會結成塊、有殘渣的，可能不是純正的蓮藕粉，是有參雜番薯粉的混品，消費者可以此辨認。
除了蓮藕粉，水上鄉農會的香水蓮花茶不只爽口，沖泡過程還很舒心，蔡易餘現場示範沖泡，將整粒蓮花放進熱水中，一朵蓮花就在水中綻放開來，十分漂亮；縣議員林緗亭更開玩笑說她都靠蓮花茶美容養顏，要當蓮花茶的代言人。
