「草漯沙丘地質公園」是海岸與海洋的緩衝地帶，獨特的生態成為遊客打卡拍照、新人拍攝婚紗的秘境，更結合了「地景保育」、「地景旅遊」、「環境教育」及「社區參與」四大發展核心價值，成為桃園首座地質公園。今日落成啟用第1條生態步道「潮音海觀景步道」，是桃園地質地景的重要里程碑，而第2條「白沙屯景觀步道」則預計在今（109）年底前完工，並將研擬興建連結許厝港和草漯沙丘的自行車道，積極推動環境教育設施場所認證、設置草漯沙丘地質展示館，此外，也規劃在大溪地區成立「大嵙崁河川地質公園」，打造桃園第2座地質公園。立法委員黃世杰、市議員徐其萬、游吾和、市府環保局長呂理德、觀旅局副局長王振鴻、農業局副局長江富貴、海管處長林立昌、大園區長徐藍科、觀音區長洪清淵等均一同出席啟用典禮。
鄭市長指出、桃園海岸線約有46公里，沿海生態有許厝港濕地、草漯沙丘、觀新藻礁及新屋石滬等四大生態亮點，他上任後，將開發管制、生態保育、生態旅遊及環境教育等面向列為重點發展項目，自然生態維護及發展成效良好。鄭市長說，桃市府3年前決定草漯沙丘的推動方向，且成立桃園市自然地景及自然紀念物審查委員會，經籌備2年後，依據《文化資產保存法》及《自然地景與自然紀念物指定及廢止審查辦法》，於今年6月公告指定草漯沙丘為桃園市定第1座地質公園，為全國第3座地質公園，亦為全國第1座以沙丘為保護標的的地質公園。
草漯沙丘是典型的海岸沙丘地形，沙丘群呈東北、西南走向，綿延8.1公里，保護範圍北起大園區老街溪口至觀音區大堀溪口之沿海地帶，面積達284公頃，並區分為核心區、復育區、一般區分級管理，其中核心區具有最完整沙丘型態，僅供學術研究及環境教育申請使用；一般區則開放民眾自由進出，提供休閒遊憩使用。
草漯沙丘結合「地景保育」、「地景旅遊」、「環境教育」及「社區參與」四大核心價值，在地景保育方面，以有效管理取代嚴格管制，積極維護海上沙漠的美麗地景生態，打造成為家庭旅遊、情人約會的浪漫溫馨景點；也興建景觀步道及自行車跨橋，發展地景旅遊，讓遊客體驗拍照打卡樂趣；亦培訓68位海岸生態解說員，及成立地質公園培力工作坊，推動環境教育及綠能發電政策；另外，也積極鼓勵社區參與，成立3隊、共96位環境志工投入，協助景觀巡護及環境整潔工作。
鄭市長説、沙丘因為風力、洋流等因素形成緩衝區域，是大自然的智慧，不僅可以保護海岸，避免海岸因侵蝕而後退，形成海上長城、海岸沙漠等特殊景觀，更成為旅遊秘境。為了保護草漯沙丘得天獨厚的自然生態，及讓遊客在不破壞生態下近距離接觸沙丘之美，市府規劃編列3,700萬元預算，打造2條草漯沙丘地質公園觀景步道，第1條是今日落成啟用，位於大園區潮音北路的「潮音海觀景步道」，設置包括觀景平台、休憩座椅、木質廣場、漂流木入口意象、遊客停車場、黃槿步道等設施；第2條則規劃設於觀音區忠孝路的「白沙屯景觀步道」，目前已發包施工，預計於今年底前完工。
未來也將規劃興建「老街溪雙溪口溪自行車跨橋」連接許厝港濕地與草漯沙丘，目前正在爭取交通部觀光局計畫經費支持，盼未來能讓喜愛許厝港候鳥、野鳥的賞鳥愛好者，也能夠騎乘自行車至草漯沙丘，體驗另一種生態美景。
鄭市長也提及草漯沙丘未來發展方向，包括今年底前研擬自然地景管理維護計畫，導入民間資源推動地景保育；將向行政院環保署申請取得草漯沙丘環境教育設施場所認證；草漯沙丘地質展示館預計明（110）年7月開館，並爭取明年在桃園舉辦「台灣地質公園網絡會議」，鼓勵社區參與經營，全力發展地景旅遊。
此外，桃園亦研擬於「大嵙崁溪水與綠休閒園區計畫」中，整闢石門水庫下游的岩石、化石河床，成立大嵙崁河川地質公園，打造桃園第2座地質公園，並請各局處加強整合桃園各特色海岸景點，推動體驗活動和地景旅遊，展現桃園海岸多元亮點魅力。
