高哲翰指出，頒獎典禮上星光雲集，剛滿90歲大壽的導演李行特別現身支持年輕創作人，朱延平表示自己是「大學生當導演的先驅」，他透露自己大一就當臨演，後來更當上導演並，並鼓勵學子熟能生巧，「多拍就對了，拍久了就收放自如、知道如何運鏡，現在的大學生要看電影比我們當時容易多了！」在大學任教15年的王童也分享，現在的學生故事越說越自然，「金馬有個國際電影獎，台北電影節也是，現在又有鑫馬獎，機會更多，是個看電影學電影的園地。」
首屆校園鑫馬獎是全國規模最大校園微電影競賽，一共收到853件作品，參與人數超過5000位師生，歷經10個月的徵件活動以及3個月的評選作業，頒獎現場除頒獎人、入圍者、評審團、主協辦單位代表外，還有許多共襄盛舉的網紅、藝人，現場觀禮人數接近500人，典禮直播更吸引將近3000人同時在線觀賞。
高哲翰更表示，決審評審委員共同主席台灣電影處處長陳志寬、評審團主席世新大學陳清河副校長、藝人謝祖武、嚴正嵐、李冠毅、楊小黎、陳庭妮、劉畊宏、唐從聖、吳念軒；李烈、 瞿友寧、林孝謙、卓立、楊力州、紀柏舟、程偉豪等人皆出席。同時也邀請新生代人氣歌手祈錦鈅、賴柏蓉 Erica、瘋狂麥克斯擔任助理主持人。特別的是，大馬歌手黃明志因疫情無法來台，於是「隔空」頒獎。
