維護空氣好品質，一直是桃園環保局的志業與初衷，連續11年獲得環保署評定為特優，誰與爭鋒的傲人成績，也忠實反應在民眾所關注的 PM2.5濃度上，108年已降至15.1 μg/m3，同時也刷新桃園市歷年來的紀錄，即使人口及機動車輛持續攀升的情況下，PM2.5濃度仍逆勢下降，全市PM2.5改善率達11.7%，較全國改善率(6.3%)高了將近1.9倍。從高污染潛勢行業深度查核、到協談大廠自主減量、鍋爐改燃天然氣，全國首創防制設備操作參數連線、推動柴油車汰換、補助低污染運具、授權民間保養廠核發自主管理標章、桃園機場生態物流管制，還推動幼兒園設置二氧化碳及PM2.5自動監測設施，鼓勵企業認養空品淨化區等多項創新有效管制作為，都看見了空氣保護多面向的努力與付出，工業區林立的桃園，發展經濟與環保永續兩者兼顧，環保局做到了。
為掌握固定污染源實際排放量，環保局對各項高污染潛勢行業執行滾動式清查與追蹤，要求業者防制設備改善及追繳空污費；也針對大型污染源，成功協談8家大廠自主減量，要求防制設備操作最佳化。創全國之先「桃園市固定污染源及防制設備即時監控管理自治條例」，公告第一批的71製程已全數連線，可24小時即時掌握防制設備的操作及排放情形，陳情案件減少61%。
預計第二批139製程也將於明(110)年6月30日前全數完成連線，對於空污管制將更趨完備。桃園市也積極推動乾淨能源，公告「鍋爐改燃天然氣補助計畫」，補助每座鍋爐30到60萬元不等，自104年至今已輔導279座工業鍋爐，削減硫氧化物 約815公噸、氮氧化物約422公噸。
移動污染源的管制方面，桃園市二行程機車僅剩38,595輛是六都中最低。推動低污染運具的補助優惠也是六都第一，電動二輪車總數102,449輛及市占率8.2%皆為全國最高。另外，為了鼓勵淘汰一、二期高污染柴油車，桃園市領先全國，加碼補助超過400件；108年一、二期柴油車共報廢786輛，淘汰數量為全國前三；五期柴油車數量從108年15,125輛增加到今年18,998輛，高污染車數減量成效良好。
管制逸散污染源，篩選高污染工地，裝設空氣盒子與監視設備，即時監控進出車輛污染防制情形，以降低營建工地及周邊道揚塵。也提供轄內各寺廟裝設約200個紙錢集中箱，方便民眾收運紙錢，108年紙錢集中收運達445公噸。更全面推廣幼兒園加裝室內空氣品質監測系統，目前全市已有292家幼兒園裝設，為民眾以及幼童健康把關，深獲民眾好評，未來將持續辦理。
環保局長呂理德表示、本市PM2.5改善率達11.7%，為六都改善率第一，環保局長期致力於維護空氣品質，成效有目共睹，除歸功於桃園市民的努力外，各方企業團體持續響應環保政策也是不可或缺的重要力量。環保局仍秉持精益求精的積極態度，持續提升空污管制作為，維護清淨空氣與生活環境，讓環保推動不只是政策執行，更守護市民的健康。
