【記者湯皓宇/嘉義採訪報導】2020年天文盛事「日環食」，又稱「上帝的金戒指」，難得一見的天文奇景日環食6月21日熱鬧登場！吸引不少民眾前往嘉義等縣市觀看。根據國道客運業者統計，往嘉義的人潮較上個週末增加15%。
為迎接本年度天文盛事「日環食」，嘉義縣長翁章梁提出「太陽之都‧嘉義」的品牌口號，塑造嘉義新意象-「太陽的事．就是嘉義的事」。
因為月亮、地球與太陽連成一線，站在地球上看，月亮就會擋在太陽前面，因此發生日環食。從下午2點49分，太陽開始初虧，4點14分，月亮面移入日面，進入環食始，4點14分，日月中心點彼此最接近，這也是日環食最高潮「食甚」，太陽面發出光芒，被稱為上帝的戒指，之後月面離開日面的「環食終」4點14分30秒，5點25分復圓。
據在嘉義某高中任教的陳老師表示，日全食、日環食在地球上幾乎年年都有，然而每次的全食帶、環食帶都很窄，所以特定地點要見到相當困難。
年年都可在地球上某個角落看日食，然而要體驗日食與鄉土的緊密結合，這次機會難得。今年 6 月 21 日，臺灣獲得難得的「天機」，可以見到日環食，我們多麼幸運。下次在臺灣要看到日環食，要等到 2215 年。
更特別的是，這次日環食剛好發生在夏至，而且環食帶在臺灣通過北回歸線。夏至當天正午，太陽直射嘉義一帶的北回歸線，下午同樣地點則發生日環食，這相當罕見。【南北傳媒新聞網/記者張艷君 湯皓宇/嘉義採訪報導】
