適逢端午，市府社會處結合志工團體，連假前一一拜訪獨居長輩致贈端午好禮，並走訪關懷街友，除平日發送的民生物資、安排沐浴住宿等，也另提供年節食品，而近日酷暑，針對街友巡訪也展開高溫關懷機制，另發送防暑濕紙巾及扇子。
社會處李季縈處長表示，市府結合民間團體，提供獨居長輩電話問安、關懷訪視，甚至免費房屋修繕外，針對獨居風險性高的長輩，安排專責社工介入服務，更提供24小時緊急救援系統，降低長者獨居的意外風險，建立竹市獨居長輩安全防護網。
他指出，除了對獨居長輩的關懷外，市府也主動出擊關懷街友，除定期與相關單位進行皆有聯合巡訪，也針對熱心民眾通報，提供街友相關資源，包含民生物資、沐浴住宿、就業輔導、醫療照顧等
社會處表示，年初的武漢肺炎疫情來襲，為防止疫情擴散，健全弱勢民眾的防疫安全網，自109年2月起，結合11家獨老志工團體及街友社工員，親訪獨居長輩及街友，共計1萬2,857次，社工員及志工親訪時，除發放防疫物資外，更加強防疫宣導，以維護獨居長輩及街友的健康。
社會處呼籲，街友及獨居長輩是在社會上最需要被關懷的族群，讓我們用包容及鼓勵陪伴街友度過低潮，用關懷問候來溫暖獨居長輩的心。市民若發現獨居長輩需要關懷，以及年老或體弱街友，有緊急安置或物資上需求，可撥打1999專線或通報社會處(03)5352657。
