桃園市長鄭文燦今（6）日上午前往八德區，出席「八德幼兒園小桃子工坊啟用活動」，鄭市長表示，桃園市八德幼兒園前身為托兒所，於民國47年成立，歷史悠久，是桃園具有規模的幼兒園，共可收托420名幼兒。感謝財團法人低碳健康生活基金會捐贈「土盒子」，造價100萬元，集結家長及社區等多方資源，共同協力成立「小桃子工坊」，並規劃窯烤區、木工區及科學區，提供孩子在自然的空間探索學習，從小養成減碳的生活教育及自然生態教育。
鄭市長說，財團法人低碳健康生活基金會所捐贈的「土盒子」是運用回收的貨櫃及舊枕木，結合C型鋼骨架、金屬網，再包覆紅土、粗糠竹管澆灌；屋頂則利用採光散熱窗及屋頂薄層綠化等方式，達到隔絕熱源、自然降溫的效果，這座「會呼吸的房子」，成功打造孩子與自然共生的學習空間，相信八德幼兒園會是孩子很棒的探索基地。
鄭市長表示，八德幼兒園的教學願景為「有愛、有智、有能」，重視孩子主動探索學習及手腦並用的學習階段，也感謝各捐贈單位提供幼兒園貨櫃屋、太陽能、木工工具及園藝等器材，讓孩子能夠在做中學，了解生態以及環境的重要性，期盼在八德幼兒園創新及活潑的教學方式下，帶領更多孩子快樂學習。
鄭市長指出，八德區人口達20萬人，公共化幼兒園數比例不足3成，市府已規劃110學年度起陸續於同和公園、北區青少年活動中心、茄苳國小、瑞豐國小及永豐高中增設非營利幼兒園，預計可再增加28班742個名額，期盼持續完善八德公立幼兒園體系，讓公共化幼兒園比例到達4成。另外，考量桃園人口的增長及建設發展，目前桃園市109學年度共增加公共化幼兒園18園，總招收名額達18,840人，未來110年至113年將合計增加至少34園203班5,424個名額，期盼讓2-5歲幼兒的平均就學率達7成以上；市府亦會持續朝公私立幼兒園招生比4比6的目標前進，為桃園的年輕家庭帶來更多元的選擇。
今日包括市議員呂林小鳳、段樹文、蔡永芳、市府教育局長林明裕、財團法人低碳健康生活基金會執行長張水田、八德區長邱瑞朝、八德幼兒園園長林璧琴等均一同出席活動。
