受新冠肺炎衝擊，國產花卉內外銷市場極劇萎縮，花農收益大受影響，南投縣府結合農糧署，在去化老株更新花苗等政府相關補助之外，藉由舉辦花藝研習教學，扎根校園培養愛花買花人口，更直接讓研習花藝的學童受惠，大受學校歡迎。
縣府農業處指出，南投縣埔里、信義、草屯、名間等鄉鎮都有大宗花卉栽培，受新冠疫情影響，出口市場近乎中斷，國內飯店、企業等切花盆栽需求也銳減，花農艱困支撐相當辛苦，尤其是蝴蝶蘭、國蘭、火鶴、文心蘭都趁此機會去化老株更新花苗，政府雖竭力補助輔導但花農損失仍舊難免，因此從扎根培養賞花愛花人口，擴大國產花卉在地消費需求，也變得刻不容緩。
埔里鎮花卉生產合作社這次承辦農糧署、南投縣府合作主辦的花藝研習教學，經理味欣瑜指出，從5月初開始，以埔里中峰國小為試辦對象，舉辦花藝教學研習，結合母親節及畢業季，運用埔里在地特色花材，提供學童練習插花及賞析花藝的機會。
23日味經理趁中峰國小畢業典禮前夕，指導應屆畢業學童，自己動手創作布置畢典的花藝作品，選用了香水百合、迷你非洲菊、水竹、白竹葉及壽松等花材，個個展現巧手創意，插出有模有樣的畢典禮花花藝作品。
中峰國小張同學說，知道花農因為新冠肺炎疫情花賣不出去損失很大，所以更珍惜花農提供花材練習插花的機會，不僅學到花藝也更懂得欣賞花卉之美。中峰校長陳明達也說，花藝教學的活動，直接陶治學校師生的藝術涵養，提升生活藝文水準，學生受益非常大，尤其是讓這次的畢典更有不凡的意義，而且能間接幫助到花農，更是師生最大的榮幸與樂事。
